Happy New Year! I hope everyone is having a great start to 2021 so far 🙂
I have been spending a lot of time journaling and reflecting on 2020 recently & I think it is a great way to release everything that happened this past year, both positive and negative and prepare for a new one (because let’s admit it, it was quite a year for everyone).
I typically prefer stream of consciousness journaling where you write whatever is on your mind without prompts or a particular goal in mind. However, sometimes it is nice to follow prompts as a way to focus and get deeper on specific topics. I think the New Year is a great time to do this.
It’s really a time of renewal and motivation – whether you take part in New Year’s Resolutions or not, you can’t help but notice a change in the attitude of those around you and even on social media. Especially with the popularity of challenges like Dry January and Veganuary it can really be a great time of transformation if you choose.
I came up with a list of 10 journal prompts that you can use to reflect on 2020, release anything that may be holding you back, and get really clear on your intentions and goals for 2021. You can do these anytime you like – all you need is some alone time, something to write on, and a cozy spot.
These prompts are meant to be done in order and build on each other but you can do them all in one sitting or over multiple days. Feel free to skip questions you don’t resonate with or come up with your own instead!
(These prompts were inspired by @mimibouchard & @bailybrwn two of my favorite people I follow on Instagram – I’d highly recommend checking out their pages for all things health, wellness, and fitness)
Let me know if you find this valuable and if you’d be interested in more journal prompts on various topics in the future!
